A question about Composite Layout

In other words, I want to be able to go to any arbitrary past edition, and see the same layout. As far as I can see, this will not be possible with Channels which are set to use Scheduled Edition. Is that the case?

Hi,
> the issue is that each of the Channels which is NOT a Scheduled Edition will appear in its own box
I got a bit lost here. I don't quite understand what you mean by 'appear in its own box'.
So, I'll try to explain as best I can and if that doesn't answer your question, please clarify.
Going back to your original post ...
If you are displaying Channel blocks, and if that channel is in scheduled editions mode, the block will automatically show the current (ie. most recently scheduled) edition. Hence the contents of the block will change over time as new editions are added and scheduled. This is by design.
However, I don't think this is the behaviour you wanted. I think you want to display a specific edition (so the contents will not change over time) ?
You can do this, but via a different path.
In addition to fields and blocks, Composite Layout can display items which are nodes, but this has to be enabled.
Visit .../admin/content/node-type/edition and under the fieldsets Composite layout / Nodes, tick the checkbox Edition under Content types that can be referenced. This will enable Composite Layout to display Edition nodes.
Then, when you edit an edition node ('the parent') with a Composite Layout, a new Nodes task will appear in the tabs. This allows you to select which other Edition nodes you want to display as part of the layout of the parent Edition node.
However ...
This Nodes tab of Composite Layout is a work in progress and needs improvement. I think you may have trouble distinguishing between your editions because the titles are all the same :(

ProsePoint 0.19 has been released with a new Channel sub-blocks feature which lets you show any past particular edition with Composite Layout. Please have a look and let me know whether it fits your needs.

It's getting closer, but it seems the issue is that each of the Channels which is NOT a Scheduled Edition will appear in its own box -- however, all of the Channels which are Scheduled Editions are consolidated into their Parent channel.
In order to show each Channel in its own box, with the stories for that particular edition, does this mean I can't have the channels as children of the parent channel?
