Hi!

Would it be possible to link image galleries to channels?  I.e. having one gallery for each channel automaticaly? Or galleries for each channel? Maybe adding a channel selector to the image and media content type? The idea is to be able to see all the media/image used in a channel. Is this feature allready there and I did not see it?

If I add this channel selector myself to the content type, will it break on the next(s) Pp upgrade?

Optionaly, organizing them on the server by a path like "default/files/this_channel_gallery" insted of having them all in "default/files/"? Would it be usefull?

And cleanning the uploaded file names of characters (e.g. fench or spanish characters) not suitable for filenames?

Adding a document content-type for pdfs or docs, them to linked to channels by a channel selector?

Thx.

Hi,

> Would it be possible to link image galleries to channels?

Not at the moment, but I think it's a good idea to make the 'vocabulary used for galleries' configurable. Then, you can choose to use the Channels hierarchy as the Image gallery hierarchy, and in this case, the other points raised in your first paragraph are also addressed.

> If I add this channel selector myself to the content type, will it break on the next(s) Pp upgrade?

I think it will be very unlikely. ProsePoint is flexible enough that people do make changes to the default site settings. The worse case scenario is that you may have to change your settings for a future upgrade. I don't think things will break.

> Optionaly, organizing them on the server by a path like "default/files/this_channel_gallery" insted of having them all in "default/files/"? Would it be usefull?

I'm not convinced it's that useful, because the site automatically handles the placement of files for you. You don't have to deal with that.

> And cleanning the uploaded file names of characters (e.g. fench or spanish characters) not suitable for filenames?

I'm not aware of this. Is this a possible bug I should know about?

> Adding a document content-type for pdfs or docs, them to linked to channels by a channel selector?

I'm a bit undecided about this one. Maybe leave it open for further discussion, and come back to it after I've made the suggested features to the gallery first?

That would be great. Hope it is not a huge task?

>I'm not convinced it's that useful

Me neither. Maybe it is just my preference for organized directories... because I had once to deal whit a site where the onwers had put everything in the base dir of the site.

>Is this a possible bug I should know about?

About the file names, I did found a drupal module for it : Transliteration. In the description : "Another purpose [of this module] is cleaning the names of new uploaded files: Drupal currently doesn't take care of invalid (according to RFC 2396) and non-ASCII characters in filenames, which can break your site's file attachments, image uploads, etc. This module provides a generic (i.e., no need for customization) approach to sanitizing file names."

Thx.

Hi,

No, it's not a huge task, but I do have a backlog of feature requests and other things to deal with as well.

Thanks for pointing out transliteration.module for me. This is definitely something worth looking at in the future when we concentrate on multilingual ProsePoint.

In the meantime, if you need to use this module, you might want to add it yourself?

Yes, huge project here. Can we hope to see a list of what you are curently working on for Pp to know what to expect in the nexts versions? What are the "accepted" feature requests and bugs on your working list?

Yes.

And I may be of some help for the french .po of Pp specifics when you'll be there.

Thx

The 'list' varies from week to week

The 'list' varies from week to week depending on circumstances and new information, so I don't know if it's going to be useful to give out details which might be out of date by the time people look at it.

There are some general things I can say though:

ProsePoint has been stable for quite a while now (except for occasional upgrades of some parts), so we are hoping not to make any major changes anytime soon.

For the short term, we are concentrating on:

  • Fixing bugs
  • Upgrading to Date 6.x-2.x (the latest Date 6.x-2.2 has bugs, so we have to wait for a new version)
  • Feature requests in the wishlists forum
  • Building the business plan for ProsePoint

There are no plans to add any major features in the next few months (but this may change without notice).

If you have a French translation, we can merge it in if you think it is ready. Let me know and we can arrange something.

Translation

Hi!

I did some translating the wrong way. I did not know how to do it correctly then... now I know that a step involve the use of http://drupal.org/project/potx. I still have some reading to do.

I do use the fr translation offered on drupal.org but only part of Pp are translated. What are the specific Pp modules I should be translating.

Thx

Hi,

It's been a while since I last looked at the Drupal translation interface, so my memory may be wrong.

I think translations are grouped according to core (ie. Drupal), modules and/or install profiles. The Drupal french translation will only cover strings in Drupal core only (I think). Some modules may be missing french translations altogether.

The ProsePoint specific modules definitely don't have any translations defined (in any language, not just french). If you want to separate them out, they are the ones in the collapsible fieldset ProsePoint on .../admin/build/modules. I'm not sure if the translation tool lets you work on them individual or not.
