Disabling Prosepoint Editor?
Hello,
I was wondering if there is a way to disable the Prosepoint Editor in favor of other options, like FCKEditor, TinyMCE, etc. It seems as though the module requisites for Prosepoint are such that there is no way to disable the editor module.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks, Beng.
The Prosepoint Editor is great, but it doesn't integrate with Image Browser, which we've grown quite reliant upon. Perhaps it will integrate in the future...
In the meantime, could you specify which features will break if the editor is disabled so that we may make an informed decision as to whether we should sacrifice these features?
Thanks
Hi,
Here's a list (off the top of my head):
You'd lose the tight integration with image insertion and editing that the ProsePoint editor provides (but you probably expect this).
You'd lose the 'teaser image extraction' feature whereby images in stories are taken out of the normal flow so they can be manipulated and laid out better (for story teasers).
Furthermore, just reading the Image Browser description ... it's based on Drupal's image.module. ProsePoint doesn't use that, ProsePoint uses CCK/Imagefield/Imagecache, which is a different setup. So if you want to use Image Browser, it's not just as simple as changing the editor. You would have to replace ProsePoint's Image content type, which means you also lose the inbuilt image gallery as well.
I'd like to see the ability to disable the ProsePoint editor only for certain content types.
i am the webmaster for a small daily newspaper, and we need the ability to post photos in our blog entries without the photos going into our image gallery (which is used only for photos shot by our photographers; our bloggers use their own photos or free stock photos). It would be really nice to be able to turn off the ProsePoint editor for blog entries, so we can use CKEditor and IMCE for images for blogs.

Hi,
Sorry, there isn't a setting to disable the ProsePoint editor. The editor is needed for several features which are considered 'core' for ProsePoint. If you disable it, those features will break, so we don't really want people to do that.
It can be done by changing code, but we'd don't officially support that.
However, an argument could be made for supporting FCKeditor as well as tinymce, although I'm not sure if this is feasible or not.
