First of all, thank you for this product. I work at a small newspaper and am finding your customizations to Drupal to be a great foundation to our future site.

I love the way inline story images are treated as separate nodes... this is exactly how I need this to work for us to be able to reuse images elsewhere (galleries, relinking, etc...). But, I would like to have captions (cutlines) show up under the image in the story. Similar to how the "Source: Wikimedia Commons" text shows up under the photos in the sample stories. I can't seem to find where the "Source: Wikimedia Commons" text source is coming from and how it is designated. I would rather it be the "caption" instead.

Also, I installed Lightbox2 as a module so that images would show up as an overlay instead of going to a separate page to be displayed. But, from the story, the image always wants to go to the full image node first and then once the image is clicked from there, it shows the lightbox. This is a little backwards because I would rather have people click less than more. It would be great to have the image in the story open up to a lightbox when someone clicks on it, with the caption text displayed as well.

Are these things that can be changed from within the Drupal admin or do these changes need to be coded?

Thank you,

Joe

Welcome to ProsePoint

Hi,

Thank you for your compliments. Welcome to ProsePoint!

The captions/cutline is controlled by the parent story of an inserted image. They are not part of the image node itself.

When you edit a story, and use the image insert button on the editor to insert an image, it should have a Caption setting on the final page of the popup to let you change the caption. Does this appear for you?

Hmmm... this would have to be done by changing code. At the moment, an inserted image is just a simple hyperlink. There's no way for lightbox to know how to hook into it. I'll probably have to treat this as a feature request / bug and schedule it as a Wishlist item.

The photo caption does not show up in the story
I did insert an image through the insert image button and I did put in a caption, but the caption does not show up around the image in the story. When I click on the image to see it larger the caption then shows up.

There are two things called Caption

Ahhhh, there are two things both called Caption. Depending on the situation one or the other is used, but they are distinct settings.

The first is the caption for the image node itself. This is what you've been referring to.

The other is the caption when you insert an image into a story, and this is what I've been referring to. It's controlled by the story, not the image.

See the attached screenshot where I have circled the second type of caption.

Sorry for the confusion. I hope this helps.
