I'm not a drupal or php developer and would like to migrate some articles, author content, etc into ProsePoint. It's currently in a SqlServer Databse but culd be exported to a variety of formats.

So how are people moving their content from other proprietary cms's into ProsePoint? Would appreciate any guidance.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi,

You could try Drupal's Node Import module, although that is not officially supported by ProsePoint. It's been a while since I used that module, so I'm not sure what state it is in.

If you are converting from a proprietary, you'll very very likely need some sort of custom coding to import into the database. Your mileage may vary.

You can use some of the ETL

You can use some of the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools to read your existing database, make any necessary transformation to ProsePoint layout and structure and then Load it into your new ProsePoint database.

This method allows you to change date formats, URL formats, merge or divide first paragraph and remaining part, authors and submitters, even entire member lists.

When dealing with CMS and SQL, there are just too many odd variables to try and script it cleanly.  ETL is the best way to go. Although, there is a learning curve,  it is well worth the effort.
