I’m currently building a new website in ProsePoint for the small daily newspaper where I work; I would love to see the concept described here ( http://groups.drupal.org/node/23233 ) incorporated into ProsePoint.

I’ve come up with my own way of being able to embed one image into a story -- and include a photo credit and cutline as two separate sections of text, yet have them float with the image as one object (by making the caption and cutline fields part of the same field group as the photo) -- but it would be even better if I could do that more than once in a story, so I could have multiple photos.

The solution I linked to above is the best I've seen -- but I don't have the programming/coding skills to make it reality for my site.

Hi,

Ah yes, I've seen that post before. I decided against that approach for a number of reasons. While it is 'idiotproof' (as it says in the post), it's not as flexible as ProsePoint image insertion.

With ProsePoint's approach, you can place images anywhere in a story and float them left or right or centered. Furthermore, you can have a single image appearing in more than one story.

(BTW, you have used ProsePoint's image insertion button in the Visual editor, yes?)

So, I'd have to say that I won't be adding this implemention into ProsePoint unless there are some very very persuasive arguments. Sorry.

Still, if you decide you prefer their approach, you can get it added onto your site (it uses CCK and not much more in the way of coding) and ProsePoint would happily co-exist with it.

Would still like to have photo credit and cutline both visible

Well, I guess I'll stay with my own workaround for now.

Yes, I've used the image insertion button in ProsePoint, but because it doesn't allow me to have both the photo credit and the cutline visible below the photo, it doesn't really do me any good. That's what I liked about the other option (in the link).

So, if there was support in

So, if there was support in ProsePoint for a cutline and a photo credit (ie. two 'caption' fields), that would be satisfactory for you?

It might be a worthwhile addition to think about putting into ProsePoint.

Yes ... though still not quite perfect!

Yes, it would be great to see the embedded image support a photo credit and cutline -- as long as each of those fields could be formatted with basic HTML, especially the <strong> tag. I'm trying to duplicate the way that cutlines and photo credits appear in our newspaper; I'm not quite there yet, but you can see how far I've gotten in my own solution (by adding two CCK text fields for Photo credit and Cutline inside a Photo group with the Photo field) in the attached screenshot from my test site (which is not the development site for the newspaper website I'm building; that one is "under wraps" until the launch date).

Note that the cutline has a "kicker" in bold; that's why I need the ability to add basic HTMl to the cutline and photo credit fields.

The one thing missing from my own solution is that our photographer credits appear as "Photographer name / Newpaper name".

I haven't figured out how to make that happen and still keep one of the features I really like in my solution -- that the photographer name (or, in the case of the attached screenshot, "Contributed photo") is a node link. It links to the Photo source content type I created -- so someone who likes a particular photograph can click on the link for that photographer and see the rest of his/her photos.

I'd lose that capability if I used the embedded image option ... but there is no perfect solution in Drupal or ProsePoint at this time for all the features I'd like when it comes to images, photo credits, and cutlines. Oh, well; you can't have it all, as the saying goes.

Custom module or templates

Hello Katrina,

The above link that you mentioned is achievable using CCK and templates. It would add really good value to your site.

What do you think about using social media around your site too?

Thanks & Regards,
