Hi there, I've noticed that the modules page still informs me about updates available for the modules you've integrated into PP.

Should we refrain from upgrading these modules?

That depends ...

Hi,

Each release of ProsePoint contains a combination of software components, including Drupal modules, that have been tested and are known to work together. We also commit to addressing any issues or bugs that arise from these combinations.

However, we do not always upgrade ProsePoint to the latest and greatest of everything straight away because we have limited resources to do so. Hence, from time to time, ProsePoint will use modules which are not the latest version. Of course, if there are bugs or security issues in a particular module of ProsePoint, then we will upgrade to the latest version if necessary to provide a fix.

So, generally, you don't have to upgrade any modules used in ProsePoint yourself. If you are unsure about any of this, you shouldn't do so at all. You can just wait for us to upgrade modules when we release future versions of ProsePoint.

However ...

We also realise that some ProsePoint users are familiar with Drupal and, for their own reasons, they may want to upgrade modules themselves. That's fine. ProsePoint is open source, we can't and won't try to stop people doing this.

If you want to change the versions of modules which are already included with ProsePoint, please put your own copies in .../sites/default/modules. Any modules in .../sites/default/modules will override those of ProsePoint.

(As a related note, you can also place modules in .../sites/all/modules, but modules in that location have a lower priority than ProsePoint, so this is only really useful for adding your own modules which are not already included with ProsePoint).

But ...

If you change the modules in a standard ProsePoint release, then we can no longer promise that things will work. In practice, it's usually okay, but you have to conduct your own testing. If things break, that's your problem and you have to sort it out yourself. We do not have the resources to support every possible combination of modules out there.

Updating Modules

At the time of writing this, I have found I can update all modules not a problem, except for the Date module

Seeing as the modules are seperated from the PP modules installation, it is a small matter if you have a problem with an update, to just remove it from the default/modules directory, and your sites working again.
