I am starting to look at ProsePoint - to possibly convert a weekly newspaper site from a Drupal 6 w/ newswire site - which has been running for over a year.

My question is, what am I looking at as far as being able to take the stories that exist in the current database and transferring them over to the new PP database - without losing any content preferably.

My other choice is to keep the drupal 6 site, create a new theme (which is my largest issue at the moment) and build on what we have by adding modules and functionality slowly.

I like all of the additional functionality built in to PP but if I have to basically start over with the content, I will probably just try and re-theme and build slowly rather than re-doing with PP. If I was making a "new" site, it would be a no-brainer, but I am concerned with the update process at the end of the project.

Any thoughts welcome.

Hi,

It would be tricky to convert an existing vanilla Drupal site to ProsePoint. Theoretically it's a straightforward case of adding all the modules that ProsePoint uses and then configuring them ie. CCK, Views etc. but it's a tedious and error prone process because there are lots of small details that are easily overlooked.

I've done it myself a couple of times but it's not something I look forward to doing (just to give my personal opinion).

Another approach you could consider is to create a new ProsePoint site from scratch, and then exporting and importing your content across.
